The Hypermodern Theorem is a set of falsifiable claims about how large-scale systems must be constructed once human-scale assumptions no longer hold. It begins from a negative observation: modern digital systems do not fail because of insufficient intelligence, participation, or goodwill. They fail because they rely on properties: belief, interpretation, discretion, legitimacy; that do not scale with automation, anonymity, or speed. The theorem asserts that three domains must be resolved mechanically, not socially, for systems to remain coherent under these conditions: 1. data: intelligence fragments when data is fragmented; 2. authority: systems degrade when authority is symbolic rather than enforceable; and 3. coordination: collaboration collapses at scale when it depends on trust, negotiation, or appeal. The Hypermodern Theorem does not ask to be believed, it draws a boundary. On one side lie systems that depend on belief, governance, and discretionary judgment. On the other lie systems that proceed through encoded constraints, mechanical authority, and executable coordination. Nothing here promises adoption, comfort, or justice. Only coherence under scale.
